The Building Demolition and Site Revitalization Program was established in House Bill 110 of the 134th General Assembly, codified in Ohio Revised Code section122.6512 and found in the Ohio Administrative Code sections 122:32-1-01 through 122:32-1-06. This program awards grants for the demolition of commercial and residential buildings and revitalization of surrounding properties on sites throughout Ohio that are not brownfields. LCLRC applied for the full allocation of $500,000 to remediate properties within the county. LCLRC reached out to the City, Villages and Townships to locate properties appropriate for this grant program. Properties that met the required State qualifications were included in the grant application and approved by the Ohio Department of Development. Through this grant program, LCLRC awarded an asbestos abatement contract to H&H Environmental for the remediation of 17 properties and awarded a contract to Heater Excavating for the demolition of 33 properties. The total amount of these contracted activities is $534,500 of which $500,000 is reimbursable from the ODOD. These properties remain in the possession of the owner’s and were not acquired by LCLRC.
